This is to all those nameless faces out there. All those faces out there...that mock, that stare, that punish with cynical glares. Those faces that gossip, that shun children from their homes, that applaud
the discrimination of of our citizens.
I'm a gay woman. I am caucasian. I have parents, recently divorced. I
have a college roommate that loved me when I moved in, found out my "dirty little secret" (not a secret at all, she just never asked), and will love me even more when I move out. I fell in love with a woman for the first time when I walked the halls of this institution, and being it a small school have subjected myself to
the regular gossip.
Could a person be judged on his/her character before, above all
else, their RACE - CREED -SEXUALITY - INCOME - SOCIAL CLASS -
APPEARANCE - RELIGION - POLITICAL STANDING - ...the list is endless.
This is to all those nameless faces out there. All those faces out
there...that mock me, that stare at me when I embrace my girlfriend when I hold her hand, that punish...punish...with cynical glares. Those faces that gossip,
that shun children from their homes, that applaud the discrimination of
my fellow students.
I'm a woman. I'm human. I live in a house. I have food and clothing.
I'm getting an education. Many people think differently of me because of my personal beliefs, my personal choices. Could a person be accepted for who they are? We are all brothers and sisters on this earth. Let's not waste time on unimportant stereotypes and criticism....we are beautiful, imperfect creatures - divine, WONDERFULLY individual.
This is to all those nameless faces out there...
