Letters are the very lifeblood of So There. The site is created for and driven by your submissons, so we take them very seriously.

The concept of So There is that of unsent letters; letters whose intended recipients might never see them, but that by writing them, the author can get their emotions out and let them go. They may be letters to friends, enemies, lovers, family, yourself or anything else you can imagine. They may be stories of unrequited love, scorn for an ex-lover, appreciation or pain. To someone who died before you could say goodbye, or to someone in your life right now. Your emotions are your own, and no one can express them the way you can. The person to whom your letter is addressed may or may not ever see it, but we assure you, someone is listening.

In order to help you get the most out of your letter, and to create a good reading experience for everyone, we do require that your letters meet certain criteria. They are as follows:

  • Letters should be in letter format. We don't require that every paragraph have a standard number of sentences, and realize that sometimes personal flow doesn't always correspond with what is "proper". What we mean is that letters should be just that: Letters. We do not publish poems, songs, or stories.
  • We do not publish letters that describe any sort of criminal act. Please do not submit them to us. This does not apply to letters from victims of crimes.
  • Swearing is acceptable as long as it is done tastefully.

  • We encourage, but do not require that you provide an email address or website to be linked from your signature.
  • You may submit anonymous letters.
  • We do understand that people have their own individual writing styles. And we will do our best to uphold this. But please understand that all lowercase writing will be changed and so will abbreviations, grammatical errors etc.

When you are prepared to submit your letter, you may send it to submissions@sothere.com. If your letter is accepted, you will be contacted with the date of your publication and any changes that may need to be made. Any questions about submission should be directed to Submissions Editor, Jenifer Jourdanne.

We look forward to hearing from you.
